February 22, 1698 - Jonathan Haynes, Thomas Haynes
About 30 Indians came to Andover Massachusetts, took Col. Bradstreet's house and two more, killed Capt Pasco Chubb and his wife, Maj. Wade's son, and two others. Carried Col. Bradstreet's family a little way, and released them. The Indians returned by way of Haverhill Massachusetts, they met with Jonathan Haynes, and Samuel Ladd, with their elder sons. The two fathers were slain, and the sons carried away. The son Thomas Haynes soon after returned, which was his second escape from the enemy in less than two years time (Jonathan is Myra's 7g-grandfather, Thomas is Myra's 6g-grandfather)

February 9, 1843 - George Hyer
John P. Sheldon and George Hyer took possession of the "Wisconsin Democrat". This was a six column weekly newspaper, noted as being a radical States-Rights newspaper that had been in operation since October of 1842. They ran it until March 14, 1844, when operations were suspended. (George is Howie's 2g-granduncle)

February 5, 1904 - Walter S. Hyer
On this Friday, Walter was cutting wood at the farm of a neighbor, Albert N. Young of Sumpter Township, Sauk Co. WI. Due to an accident with a large power driven circular saw, Walter had his kneecap removed. The injury was so severe he would have his leg amputated three days later in an attempt to save is life. All attempts to save his life were to no avail as Walter passed away the next day, Tuesday, February 9. (Walter is Howie's g-grandfather)

February 4, 1555 - Rev. John Rogers
John was very out spoken about the way Mary I "Bloody Mary" Queen of England had turned the country back to Catholicism. John was tried on Jan 22, 1555 and burned at the stake at Smithfield, England as a heretic on this date. He was the first of a group of ministers to be burnt at the stake. (He is Howie 12g-granduncle, and Myra's 12g-grandfather.)

On this date a committee appointed Moses Cleveland to lay out the portion of land that had been granted to him in Woburn, Middlesex Co. MA. (Moses is Howie's 8g-grandfather)

John arrives in New York City, New York on the sail ship the Bark Henry Woods. The ship had sailed from Liverpool, England. John's family would join him in America later this same year. (John is Howie's 3g-grandfather)

Mr. Maxwell presented the account of David R. Hyer for one day's work at the capitol putting in stoves and other things to prepare the building for this session. The Legislative Assembly of the Territory of Wisconsin referred this matter to the Committee on Public Expenditures. (David is Howie's 2g-grandfather)

60 people were in attendance at a masquerade party that was held at the home of Glen Kindschi in Sumpter Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin. Prizes were given to Bert Hyer, dressed as George Washington, Mrs. Roy Kindschi, a gipsy woman, and Meryl Young, a Dutch girl. (Bert is Howie's grandfather)
